LYRICS | |||
I've been living in fear for years But I know I would die in their faces, so
When I'm making up my bed But my washing is erasing all the traces, so When you're in the shower When you're all alone Is this really all that life's all about? All these lies are quite the same: But the addict is engrained in the concious
soul, |

Liner Notes: This version came about due to a happy accident during the recording of the "Original Version". I accidentally started the drum sequencer with the wrong backing beat, and since the computer was synchronized, all of the backing I had just recorded was overlayed on the new, slower, funkier beat. Also, the bass was playing on all of the keyboards simultaneously. I thought it sounded cool, so I worked on it a bit and turned it into a new mix. The guitar is actually mostly the same chords as the original, but I made sure to intentionally play it with a completely different rhythm than the original, or indeed, the rest of the song. The vocals are heavily effected and were recorded at a slower speed than the final mix to change the tonal qualities. The rhythm and melody of the vocals were heavily influenced by Lou Reed, with perhaps a bit of Romeo Void thrown in. I think it has a "1980's trashy art-rock" sound to it. It sounds completely different than the other two versions... you'd barely know it was the same song! Recording this version was a lot of fun, and I think it turned out the best of the three versions. I hope that you like it too! Other versions: Original Live at the Faux |
